The image above was a drawing I sketched on my iPad after hearing I wasn’t being considered for a job I was pursing. I could not find my Apple Pencil for the life and me and so decided to use my finger instead. If you asked anyone close to me where my favorite vacation destinations are…they’d tell you basically anywhere that has a tall, crested and snow-capped landscape. There’s just something about mountains that fill with me awe and wonder–which is why I find myself traveling to the Pacific Northwest almost summer.

Why did I draw this after hearing disappointing news? The best and most concise explanation is that it represents a promise. Was the job something I really wanted…no…but it represented safety, stability, and peace-of-mind.

So I closed my eyes and prayed. I felt like God prompted me with two messages, “Have faith” and “I’ve got you”. So I put my pointer finger on the iPad and began.

After finishing the drawing, I took it all in. Immediately, its meaning became clear. The season I was entering into would consist of both darkness and light. How long would it take for the sun to show itself in full glory?

What started as a golden line across the jagged horizon was growing into a mesmerizing sunrise…and yet there was still the absence of light above and below. Darkness equated itself to the unknown while light brought assurance and hope.

My heart longs to bring the fullness of who I am to the world. It desires to use the gifts and experience God has given me to help usher healing, transformation, and hope in every way I can.
